Recipe
-
Prep Time: 15 min
- 3 slices brioche or milk bread (*see note below)
- 1 stick unsalted butter, very soft, room temp
- 2 1/2 tbsp honey
- 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1-2 pinches of sea salt
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- When spreading butter on the brioche bread, make sure to cover every surface area (top to bottom). This will ensure that the bread is golden and toasty at every corner!
- When shopping for brioche bread, I have had better luck with thicker/slightly hard bread. This sounds counter-intuitive, but slightly stale bread has a sturdier hold with all that butter in the oven!
- After baking, allow your toast to sit and cool for about 10-15 minutes. This allows the edges to crisp up, which makes for a lovely crunch when you eat!
Bake Time: 20 min
Yields: 3-4 servings
What you need
Honey Toast
What to do
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mix butter, honey, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and vanilla until everything is smooth and creamy.
2. Trim the crust of each slice of bread. Slice each piece of bread in half (6 slices) spread honey butter on every surface area of the bread and stack one slice of bread on top of another. In total, you should have 3 toast (sandwiches) of bread smeared with honey butter.
3. Place on parchment paper and bake for 10 minutes on one side. Then flip toast so the bottom is on top and bake for another 10 minutes.
4. Remove and cool for 5-10 minutes. Top with more butter, berries, whipped cream, chocolate, syrup, whatever your heart desires!! In my latest IG reel, I used fresh whipped cream and salted caramel sauce! You can find the recipe for the caramel here
