Ingredients
Hot Chocolate
- 8oz good quality semi sweet or dark chocolate
- 1 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
- small pinch of salt
Instructions
Enable Step-by-Step Mode- In a small saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until just warm—do not boil.
- If using bars, chop the chocolate into small pieces for even melting. Add the chocolate to the warm milk mixture, whisking continuously until fully melted and smooth. This will take about 3-5 minutes. You want the mixture to be smooth and creamy.
- Stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Add the vanilla bean paste and a small pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture is fully combined and smooth. You want the mixture to be smooth and creamy.
- Serve immediately by pouring the mixture into small mugs. This hot chocolate is rich, so small mugs are encouraged. Serve with marshmallows or whipped cream.
- Storage: Keep hot chocolate in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave in short bursts, whisking frequently to restore smoothness. Add milk or cream as needed to get desired consistency.
